Crowning Glory! Added Dimension Fabric + Pattern Kit: Makes 1 block

This Crowning Glory! Added Dimension Fabric + Pattern kit makes 1 -12” x 12” Crown Pineapple block excerpted from the Hospitality Quilt. The block may be made by hand or machine reverse applique with applique and under-coloring.

Kit has the original Cherrywood Fabrics the quilt was designed in. Directions on how to make it, are found in the blog “Reverse Applique with Applique and Under-Coloring - Hand and Machine (posted April 28, 2020) in the Blog: Tutorial section, or by purchasing the Hospitality Quilt XVII pattern in print or PDF.

The kit includes:

  • 1-Crown Pineapple pattern piece

  • Tips for Successful Hand Reverse Applique hand-out

  • 1 - FQ Berry fabric, top fabric

  • 1 - FQ Yellow, background fabric

  • 1 - FE Lt. Green, under-color leaves

  • 1 - FE Dk. Green, applique leaves

  • 1 - FE Orange, applique pineapple pieces

Other Supplies Needed

To make by the Machine Method you will also need:

1 - 12” x 12” square Soft Fuse or Flexi-Fuse

Pencil for tracing

Pins for tracing pattern onto paper side of fusible

small, sharp scissors (our Kai bent-handled sharp-tipped scissors strongly recommended)

1 spool each of 50 or 60 wt. thread that matches the Berry reverse applique top fabric; Orange applique pineapple pieces, and Dk. Green Leaf applique

Sewing machine, open-toed sewing machine foot strongly recommended, 80/12 or 90/14 sewing machine needle

To make by the Hand Method you will also need:

Pencil or Frixion gel pen for tracing design onto wrong side of background fabric

Lightbox very helpful for tracing

10 - 15 safety pins for pin-basting

small, sharp scissors (our Kai bent-handled blunt-tipped scissors strongly recommended)

1 spool each of 60 or 80 wt. thread that matches the Berry reverse applique top fabric; Orange applique pineapple pieces, and Dk. Green Leaf applique

1 spool 28 wt. hand cotton quilting or basting thread in contrast color to top fabrics for basting

No. 7 sharps needle for basting

No. 11 Milliner’s needle for stitching
